Abstract
The perspective of this issue on rural economies is focused on fundamental structures of premodern societal life in agrarian regions. Three topical contributions employ different approaches in examining fields of discussion leading centrally into the question and specifics of a pre-industrial and genuinely rural economic system. The subject of investigation are the manifestations of rural sociability during an era predating the near-complete integration of all things non-urban into the modern market society that we experience today.
The articles in this issue focus their attention on rural and village structures at the intersection of anthropological, religious-sociological, and practical economic questions.
